Small Stones -- The Farm Edition

2012 began at Ben's family's cottage, Riverwood. Each day spent searching for a stone to cast in the River.
January 1

A constant rain falls, taking snow from the trees. 
Lingering on pine needles deep in the forest.

January 2


Sinking into the warmth of tucked in blankets.
Swept out by the tide of her prose.


January 3 


Morning.
Sun pours in through the kitchen window.
Just beyond these walls, a new landscape.
Elation.

January 4


Must has settled into my clothes.
It's the smell of this place,
the dust in the corners,
the creak in its stairs.

The wood/oil furnace rumbles below.
Deliciously cold water
still pumps from this century-old well.


January 5


Together, we walk.
Trekking over rabbits' paths.
Snow, lightly falling.
